AI-Powered Reddit Mention Analysis & Summarization
Automate the analysis of Reddit mentions. This n8n workflow finds relevant posts, classifies them using OpenAI, and generates concise summaries for brand monitoring.
Overview
Automatically finds, filters, and summarizes Reddit posts about your brand or keyword using OpenAI, streamlining social listening and content analysis.
đ§ Description & Use Case
This workflow automates the process of social listening on Reddit. It actively searches for posts mentioning a specific keyword, uses AI to determine their relevance, and generates concise summaries for quick analysis.
đ How It Works:
-
Trigger and Fetch: The workflow starts manually, triggering the
Redditnode to search for all new posts containing the keywordn8n. -
Initial Filtering: An
IFnode filters the results to ensure relevance. It only allows posts that:- Have 5 or more upvotes.
- Contain text content (not just a title or link).
- Were posted within the last 7 days.
-
Data Preparation: A
Setnode cleans up the data, trimming the post text to the first 500 characters and organizing key information like URL, date, and upvote count. -
AI Classification: The
OpenAI Classifynode analyzes the trimmed post text to decide if it's genuinely about the topic of interest (in this case, n8n.io). It returns a simpleYesorNo. -
Relevance Check: A second
IFnode checks the AI's classification. If the post is not relevant (No), it's discarded. If it is relevant (Yes), it proceeds to the next step. -
AI Summarization: For each relevant post, the
OpenAI Summary Backupnode generates a concise, one-sentence summary of the content. -
Final Output: The workflow concludes by using a
SetFinalnode to structure the final output, providing a clean object with the post's URL, date, upvotes, and the AI-generated summary.
â Real-World Use Cases:
- Brand Monitoring: Automatically track what users are saying about your product, company, or service on Reddit.
- Customer Feedback Loop: Identify and summarize user feedback, bug reports, and feature requests to inform your product development cycle.
- Content Curation: Discover and summarize relevant user-generated content for newsletters, social media, or internal reports.
- Competitive Analysis: Monitor mentions of competitors to stay informed about their market perception and user discussions.
- Lead Identification: Find posts where users are asking for solutions that your product offers, creating a stream of potential leads.
This workflow is a powerful tool for turning unstructured conversations on Reddit into actionable, summarized insights, saving hours of manual work.

We got better results by following OpenAI's documentation.\n - We could make OpenAI node easier to work with for new users by the node inputs being oriented not to sending parameters to api but by following [their suggestions](https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/completion/prompt-design) - e.g. have a field for expected output format rather than just for prompt.\n- âī¸ **Changing the max_tokens parameter** drastically changes results - sometimes making it smaller even improves results (e.g. when you want a yes/no response in the OpenAI Classify node). In their [docs](https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/completion/inserting-text) they recommend using max_tokens>256 but [n8n by default](https://community.n8n.io/t/openai-result-not-complete/21533) uses max_tokens=16. We should probably update this."
